Operating revenues for SCM International increased by 20 per cent. Both the Spanish Anuntis Segundamano and the French Leboncoin.fr showed good revenue growth in 2010.

InfoJobs.net (Spain)

InfoJobs.net is the clear leader in the online recruitement market in Spain. The company is facing challenges due to the difficult conditions in the Spanish economy and the jobs market in particular. Unemployment is still extremely high, a situation which has affected our online classifieds service. Fewer job announcements affect advertising volumes and revenues for the service.

Segundamano.es (Spain)

Segundamano.es is the company’s website for buying and selling a complete range of items in Spain. This online classifieds operation is based on the same technical platform as Blocket in Sweden. Segundamano is a strong brand name in Spain, and many advertisements from both private and professional sellers are contained in the database. Around 6 million unique users visit the website every month.

Fotocasa.es (Spain)

Fotocasa.es is the real estate portals in Spain and, together with the main competitor Idealista, holds a leading position in the real estate vertical. The two actors have competed for the market-leading position for several years. Fotocasa has almost three quarters of a million properties in its database. The company continues to work towards its goal of becoming the market leader in the Spanish real estate market.

Coches.net (Spain)

Coches.net is an online classifieds service for cars in Spain. Coches.net is double the size of its main competitor, AutoScout24.es, and has around 2.5 million unique visitors every month. The website has shown a positive trend throughout 2010, and the focus for 2011 is to maintain and strength its position. 

Leboncoin.fr (France)

Leboncoin.fr was started on the basis of a simple idea: the best offer is just around the corner! This is a concept which after four years has made it the market leader in France.

Traditionally, Leboncoin.fr’s strength has been in the sale of used items between private individuals, and this continues to be the case. But Leboncoin.fr also has France’s biggest online site for cars and well as large market shares for real estate and recruitment.

Large traffic engine: 

  • Leboncoin.fr is the leading online classifieds website in France and the third-largest online classifieds and auction website in Europe.
  • More than 300,000 advertisements are placed every day. The database contains roughly 15 million advertisements for items for sale.
  • Leboncoin.fr is the seventh-largest website in France measured in number of unique visitors per month, the third-largest in page views, with 4.8 billion page views per month, and approximately 3 million daily users.
  • The Leboncoin.fr brand holds a strong position in France.

Leboncoin.fr is based on the Swedish Blocket.se concept and technology and is a good example of how one can expand in new markets. Schibsted launched Leboncoin.fr in April 2006 as a joint venture together with SPIR. In November 2010 Schibsted took over full control of Leboncoin.fr by acquiring the remaining 50% of the shares. This transaction put a value on Leboncoin.fr as a whole of EUR 400 million. Increasing its ownership of Leboncoin.fr had strategic importance for Schibsted, one of the reasons being that Leboncoin.fr’s high traffic volumes can provide a sound basis for developing new sources of revenue.
