Lars Helle new Editor-in-Chief at Stavanger Aftenblad

The Board of Directors at Stavanger Aftenblad has appointed Lars Helle (48) as the regional media house’s new Editor-in-Chief. Helle comes from the position as Editor-in-Chief at Norwegian daily Dagbladet.

- Lars Helle is an experienced publicist, and the job he has carried out at Dagbladet has been positively noticed. His ties and commitment to Stavanger and the Rogaland district will be important in his new job, says Didrik Munch, CEO of Media Norge and Chairman of Stavanger Aftenblad.

Munch is looking forward to include Lars Helle as in Media Norge’s editorial and management community.

- Strategic overview

- Helle combines strategic overview with strong executive capacity, which are skills that our media houses need right now. He also likes to challenge, which we hope he will keep doing in his new job. In Stavanger Aftenblad’s almost 120 year long history there have only been eight editors-in-chief; a few but quite pronounced profiles. We have high hopes that Lars Helle will be one of those who leave strong traces, says Munch.

Lars Helle holds a law degree. He has most of his journalistic and editorial experience from different positions in Dagbladet. He was also Editor-in-Chief of Rogalands Avis from 1996 to 2001.

Helle will be responsible for everything that is published at Stavanger Aftenblad’s different editorial platforms, both print and online.

- The big challenge for the regional media houses is to maintain and develop their strong position in the traditional media in a new and demanding digital reality. Lars Helle has documented strong results in this area, which the Board has emphasized when he was elected as their first choice, says Munch.
