Schibsted.no awarded best website 2011

On March 10 Schibsted Media Group won the Farmand Award for Best Website 2011 in Norway, in the category “Companies listed on the stock exchange”.

Schibsted Media Group’s website was revamped and updated in the fall of 2010, when the company changed its logo and got a new visual profile.

- I am very proud that Schibsted Media Group has won this award. It has been important for us to create a website that our users find both useful and user-friendly. Also, we wanted the site to reflect Schibsted Media Group’s strong position as an innovative, international and modern media company. This award is proof that we have succeeded at this, says Communications Director Anders Rikter.

The jury’s justification:

This user-friendly website has a content and format worthy of the Norwegian media giant. It also presents a lot of good and interesting images, illustrations and videos from the company’s activities in Norway and abroad.

Design Director Anna Thurfjell at Schibsted’s Swedish media house Svenska Dagbladet and the Norwegian branch of the design agency Creuna combined their skills in creating the design and visual elements of Schibsted Media Group’s new website. VP Investor Relations Jo Christian Steigedal, Head of Internal Communication Helen Kierulf Svane and VP Brandbuilding Hilde Torvanger were key contributors to the final result.

- The new web is a product of a lot of hard work carried out by a considerable group of highly qualified people both from Schibsted Media Group and Creuna. This resulted in a functional and good website, Anders Rikter says.

This is the first time that Schibsted Media Group wins the Farmand Award. The purpose behind the prestigious award is to encourage higher quality on Norwegian websites. Since the award was established in 2006 the following companies have won the gold prize: Schibsted Media Group (2011), Statoil (2010), AF-.gruppen (2009), Hydro (2007 and 2006).
