VG and Aftenposten both managed to produce newspapers after the terrible events in Oslo on Friday and the subsequent evacuation of their buildings. They are now back at their offices and working to produce tomorrows newspapers. Schibsted CEO Rolv Erik Ryssdal visited both VG and Aftenposten Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
- The meaningless killings in Oslo and at Utøya are a national tragedy, and those affected deserve our warmest thoughts. I know that many Schibsted-employees have put in heroic efforts in order for us to produce newspapers under extremely challenging circumstances. This has allowed us to fulfill our public responsibility to inform the Norwegian people in this dark hour. I sincerely wish to thank all our employees who have contributed to the way our mediahouses have been able to report and inform on the terrible tragedy we have witnessed, says CEO Rolv Erik Ryssdal.
The damage sustained by the VG building is mainly broken glass at the front of the building. Schibsted headquarters in Apotekergaten 10 was used by VG-journalists for a short period on Friday until the building was evacuated. One window was blown out in the building.
